Samsung Galaxy A17 LTE: Is This the Best Budget Smartphone of 2025?

Samsung Electronics announced that it will launch the Galaxy A17 LTE, a cost-effective smartphone with enhanced core features and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, in South Korea on Friday.

The Galaxy A17 LTE comes equipped with a 6.7-inch (169.1mm) expansive display, a thinner and lighter design at 0.3 inches (7.5mm) thick, a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, and a suite of essential features including AI functionality.

The device will be available through major carriers and as an unlocked model. Consumers can purchase it from Samsung Stores, Samsung.com, carrier retail and online outlets, and various e-commerce platforms. At its core, the smartphone runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, serving as the device’s central processing unit.

Priced at 319,000 KRW (approximately 219 USD), the Galaxy A17 LTE will be offered in three color options: black, light blue, and gray.

Featuring a Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy A17 LTE supports a 90Hz refresh rate, delivering a vibrant and immersive viewing experience to users.

The rear of the device houses a versatile triple-camera system, including a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens, an ultra-wide camera, and a macro lens, enabling users to capture a wide range of scenes with exceptional clarity. The optical image stabilization (OIS) feature is particularly noteworthy, as it minimizes shake and light streaks when shooting in low-light conditions.

With its slim 0.3-inch (7.5mm) profile and lightweight 190-gram build, the Galaxy A17 LTE offers improved grip and portability. The front display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+, enhancing durability. The device also packs a robust 5,000mAh battery, allowing users to enjoy extended periods of content consumption.

The Galaxy A17 LTE incorporates AI-powered features designed to enhance everyday convenience, such as Gemini and Circle to Search. Users can easily research items of interest on their screen using Circle to Search, while Gemini Live provides real-time, context-aware assistance through screen or camera sharing.

Samsung Wallet is also supported on the device, offering a comprehensive suite of lifestyle services. These include the newly introduced Samsung Wallet Money for rechargeable payments, a rewards program called Samsung Wallet Points, contactless payments for both online and in-store purchases, international transactions, transit cards for domestic and overseas use, digital IDs and certificates, boarding passes, event tickets, and membership management.

To ensure longevity and security, Samsung Electronics commits to providing up to six major OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A17 LTE.

Jung Ho-jin, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Korea, stated, “The Galaxy A17 LTE offers a complete package of essential smartphone features, including a large display, sleek design, advanced camera system, and AI capabilities, all at a competitive price point. Samsung remains dedicated to customer-centric innovation, continuously developing products that cater to the diverse preferences and needs of our consumers.”
