The U.S. White House has released photos on its official social media accounts documenting the summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and South Korean President Lee Jae-myung in Gyeongju. One image that caught particular attention featured a shirt featuring Trump’s past mugshot.
On October 29, the White House shared several photos from the summit on its X (formerly Twitter) account. The final image showed Trump and Lee posing in front of an array of Trump-branded merchandise.
The display case showcased various “Trump merchandise,” including a MAGA hat, photo albums, a Bible, and Korean translations of books authored by Trump and the First Lady.
In the photo, Lee appears to be gesturing towards the shirt while speaking, as Trump gazes at his own image on the garment.
The shirt prominently displays Trump’s mugshot alongside the defiant slogan “NEVER SURRENDER.”
This mugshot was taken in 2023 when Trump surrendered to the Fulton County prosecutor’s office in Georgia during the Biden administration. He had been indicted for allegedly conspiring to overturn the 2020 election results in the state.
Since then, the mugshot has become an iconic image associated with Trump. It has been featured on various merchandise items, from mugs to shirts, which were sold to his supporters during last year’s election campaign.
Earlier this year, Trump’s official inauguration portrait was also inspired by the mugshot.
