Unlocking Opportunities: President Lee’s Vision for AI and Public-Private Partnerships at APEC

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is set to participate in a dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) on October 31, as part of an official luncheon event for the APEC summit.

The Presidential Office released this information in a press statement today.

ABAC, established in 1995, is a private advisory body that annually engages with APEC leaders to gather insights on economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and convey recommendations from the business sector.

The event will bring together over 60 ABAC members and APEC leaders, including Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, and Chilean President Gabriel Boric. The gathering will be structured into a plenary session and ten smaller group meetings, involving all APEC leaders and ABAC members.

During the plenary session, Lee intends to stress the importance of public-private partnerships while seeking ABAC members’ support for APEC’s advancement. Subsequently, ABAC Chair Lee Kyu-ho will present formal recommendations to the APEC leaders.

Following this, Lee will join Carney for a luncheon subgroup meeting. There, he is expected to outline the South Korean government’s strategies for addressing AI and demographic shifts. He aims to lead discussions on public-private cooperation to transform these changes into new opportunities, emphasizing South Korea’s commitment to act as a bridge to the AI era, connecting the Asia-Pacific region with cutting-edge technologies and the global economy.
