South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol declared martial law and swiftly retracted it just 6 hours later, drawing international attention and a surprised reaction from Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

On Wednesday, Musk expressed his surprise on X by responding with double quotation marks to a post about Yoon’s martial law declaration.

About three hours later, Musk commented “Wow” on another post featuring a photo of the South Korean National Assembly. The post reported that all 190 lawmakers present had unanimously passed a resolution demanding the lifting of the martial law.

When another user commented, “What is going on in South Korea right now?” Musk replied, “Yeah, this is shocking.”

While Musk’s comments garnered hundreds of retweets, he refrained from offering further specific opinions on the matter.

Yoon had initially declared martial law at 10:25 PM on January 3rd. However, he swiftly lifted it just six hours after the National Assembly passed a unanimous resolution calling for immediate termination.
