U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has piacked Brendan Carr, a Republican FCC commissioner, to lead the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

According to international media reports on November 17, Carr, who is set to oversee U.S. broadcasting and telecommunications policy, is known to have close ties with Tesla CEO Elon Musk. Musk reportedly expressed his support for Carr’s nomination during a recent meeting at Mar-a-Lago.

Carr has maintained a positive relationship with Musk, supporting his efforts to secure broadband internet service subsidies. This connection came to light last year when Carr posted on his X (formerly Twitter) account, alleging that the FCC and other agencies were subjecting Musk to “regulatory harassment” under the Biden administration.

Additionally, Carr publicly criticized NBC for circumventing the FCC’s “equal time” rule when Vice President Kamala Harris, who was the Democratic presidential candidate, appeared on Saturday Night Live during the election campaign.
