Samsung Electronics announced on February 25 that it won a total of 77 awards, including two gold awards, at the International Forum Design Award 2026 in Germany.
Established in 1953 by the German International Forum, the iF Design Award evaluates design innovation and impact across nine categories: product, packaging, communication, concept, interior, architecture, service design, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI).
Samsung secured gold for its Music Studio 5 and its Sustainable Appliance Consumables Concept. In total, the company earned 39 awards, 14 in UX designs, 5 in communication designs, 16 in concepts, and 3 in service designs, showcasing excellence across the board.
The gold-winning Music Studio 5 is an artful Wi-Fi speaker inspired by orbs and dots. While it appears as a decorative object when not in use, its front features a micro-perforated design that delivers powerful audio. The product was recognized for combining strong audio performance with lifestyle-oriented aesthetics that blends naturally into any environment.
Samsung’s Sustainable Appliance Consumables Concept also won a gold award. This innovative approach repurposes manufacturing waste into materials for appliance consumables, using a color-coded system for easy disposal identification. For example, air purifier filters and vacuum cleaner bags are categorized as semi-permanent (gray), recyclable (green), or general waste (brown). This concept design previously received a gold at IDEA 2024.
Beyond the top honors, Samsung picked up awards in multiple product categories. The winners included the Galaxy S25 Edge, the thinnest model in Galaxy S history at 0.23 inches and weighing 5.75-ounce; The Freestyle+, a projector that maintains an almost rectangular image even when projected onto corners, curved surfaces, or textured curtains; the Infinite AI Combo, an all-in-one washer-dryer that handles washing and drying in a single cycle; and Spatial Signage, which delivers vivid 3D depth without bulky hologram boxes or dedicated 3D glasses.
Samsung’s software innovations also earned recognition, including One UI 7, optimized for mobile AI experiences, and Home Insight, a smart home feature that analyzes appliance usage and user habits to offer tailored solutions.
Mauro Porcini, Samsung Electronics’ Chief Design Officer, emphasized, “Design transcends products and user experiences. It is about crafting moments that resonate with people’s emotions and daily lives. We remain committed to putting people first and continually enhancing immersive customer experiences.”
