Samsung Electronics announced on February 20 that it is running a Bixby beta program, as the AI assistant evolves into a more powerful device agent. The updated Bixby will be rolled out sequentially to Galaxy S25 series devices of users participating in the One UI 8.5 Beta Program.
In this beta program, Samsung’s AI voice assistant Bixby now offers more intuitive and user-friendly device control features based on natural language processing. When users voice their desired functions or settings, Bixby interprets their intentions and suggests appropriate options.
For example, when a user says they want the screen to stay on while they are looking at the phone, Bixby comprehends the request and immediately activates the “Keep screen on while in use” setting.
Moreover, Bixby provides tailored solutions by considering the current device settings. Users can receive troubleshooting advice specific to their device’s status without manually checking every smartphone setting.
In another instance, if a user if a user reports that the phone is not ringing, Bixby checks the current device settings and by identifying if Do Not Disturb is enabled and proposes turning it off.
A key feature of this Bixby update is its ability to offer a seamless experience by enabling users to search for and verify information during conversations. When users inquire about something, Bixby conducts real-time web searches to find relevant information and provide answers.
Choi Won-jun, Head of Development and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) division, stated, “Since introducing our first AI phone in 2024, Samsung has been continuously enhancing features to allow more users to naturally integrate AI experiences into their daily lives.”
He added, “Bixby has evolved into an intuitive device agent that spans not only Galaxy devices but also Samsung TVs and home appliances. We will further refine the inter-device connectivity experience to make our products even more user-friendly.”
