Samsung Brings Double-Folding Galaxy Z Tri-Fold to the U.S. Market

Samsung Electronics is set to launch its innovative tri-folding smartphone, the Galaxy Z TriFold, in the fiercely competitive U.S. market. This move aims to cement Samsung’s position as the industry leader by showcasing its cutting-edge technology ahead of anticipated releases from Apple and Chinese competitors.

Industry sources revealed on Monday that Samsung began showcasing the Galaxy Z TriFold at its Experience Stores across major U.S. cities, including locations in California, Minnesota, New York, and Texas. The Galaxy Z TriFold, which began sales last December, was initially available in only five countries, including South Korea and the UAE. Its U.S. launch is expected next month.

As with other markets, initial U.S. stock is expected to be extremely limited. In South Korea, the initial release saw only about 3,000 units available, with other countries receiving even fewer.

Given the strategic importance of the North American market, widely regarded as the world’s largest premium smartphone market, the initial U.S. stock is likely to reach several thousand units. Given that the Galaxy Z TriFold sold out within minutes immediately after its release in other markets due to high demand, it is observed that this success will continue in the U.S.

The Galaxy Z TriFold represents the pinnacle of Samsung’s foldable technology. Its complex design features three panels, a dual in-folding mechanism, and an advanced Armor Flex hinge for enhanced durability. While high production costs may limit initial sales, Samsung’s primary goal is to showcase its technological prowess, particularly as Apple prepares to enter the foldable market later this year.

Samsung also aims to widen its technological lead over aggressive Chinese competitors. Honor plans to unveil its next-gen foldable, the Magic V6, at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2026. This device boasts cutting-edge features like Snapdragon’s latest processor, a 7,000 mAh battery, and a 200-megapixel main camera.
