U.S. President Donald Trump stated that a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin could occur “very soon.”

According to Fox News and other reports, Trump commented to reporters after attending the Daytona 500 event in Florida on Sunday. He responded to questions about the timing of a potential meeting with Putin, which he indicated could happen “very soon.”

The United States and Russia will begin high-level negotiations in Saudi Arabia this week regarding the end of the war in Ukraine. U.S. officials attending the talks include Secretary of State Marco Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Waltz.

On the same day, Trump said, “I think he wants to stop fighting. I see that. We spoke long and hard.”

He continued by saying that Putin wants to end it and that Russia wants to finish it “immediately.” He added that President Zelenskyy of Ukraine also wants this to end.
