Wife’s Dedication Wakes Husband from Decade-Long Coma

Baidu

A husband who lived in a vegetative state for ten years woke up miraculously thanks to his wife’s devoted care.

The South China Morning Post in Hong Kong reported on June 6th (CST) about Sun Hongxia from Anhui, Eastern China. The report introduced how she took excellent care of her husband, who lost consciousness due to a heart attack in 2014.

Sun tirelessly cared for her husband, who fell into a vegetative state after suffering a sudden heart attack, with unwavering love for ten years.

She confessed, “I wanted to inspire our two children not to lose hope and become stronger. I wanted to be a good example for them.”

After ten years, when her husband opened his eyes, Sun burst into tears. She said, “It was tough all these years, but I think it’s worth it because we did it as a family,” as she stroked her husband’s head, lying in bed looking at her.

The husband’s father expressed gratitude for Sun’s sacrifice, saying, “No one can compare to my wife…”

A vegetative state refers to patients who fall into a deep coma due to severe hypoxic brain damage caused by cardiac arrest or other reasons but continue to survive. No known treatment method has been found to help recovery from a vegetative state.
