A Chinese relationship expert who made millions by teaching women how to marry wealthy men has been fined $1.04 million for tax evasion.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), Le Chanchui—who brands herself as the McKinsey of relationships—earns around $19.5 million annually by offering dating and financial advice.

Le promotes using relationships and marriage as strategic tools for social and economic status.

Her online course package, titled “Valuable Relationships, costs $492 for 24 sessions, which she claims helps students master the social, romantic, and financial elements of relationships.

She also charges $157 for one-on-one online consultations, while personal coaching packages can exceed $1,373 per month.

In 2023, Le came under fire in Chinese media for promoting unhealthy relationship ideals and controversial values. Following bans from multiple social media platforms, she shifted her business to a more exclusive, members-only model.

Her premium program, Girlfriend Alliance, costs a staggering $27,441 and requires passing an enrollment interview.

Despite declaring only $82,400 in personal income over the past two years, tax authorities in Shanghai discovered—through big data analytics—that her actual earnings were much higher. She was ordered to pay $1.04 million in back taxes, penalties, and fines.

In response, Le publicly acknowledged the issue, stating that she would take this as a lesson and comply with business regulations and tax laws going forward.

The case has sparked outrage among Chinese online users, many of whom are calling not only for justice but also for her imprisonment.
