CCTV footage has sparked controversy after showing two women dining with children at a Chinese restaurant in the UK and fleeing without paying.

On Tuesday, Chinese media outlet Xinqingbao reported that the incident occurred on March 23 at a Chinese restaurant in London.

The footage shows the two women dining with two children before leaving the restaurant and getting into a vehicle without settling the bill.

A restaurant employee attempted to approach the car and speak with the women, but they suddenly sped off with the driver’s door still open. The employee gave chase but could not catch up as the vehicle quickly disappeared from view.

Following the incident, the restaurant reported the woman to local authorities. Police have since identified the suspects and launched a further investigation.

After the video went viral online, Chinese netizens reacted with sharp criticism, posting comments such as, “A hundred years ago, they stole cultural artifacts—now they’re stealing food,” and “The gentlemanly culture of Britain seems to exist only in the minds of people from the past.”
