Trump Flips Fries at McDonald’s: Fast Food Showdown

Newsis

Billionaire real estate mogul and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, running in the U.S. presidential election in November, visited a McDonald’s in a swing state and fried French fries. He claimed that Vice President Kamala Harris’s story about working at McDonald’s was false and joked that he would buy a hamburger for Harris, who had just turned 60.

According to NBC News, Trump visited the swing state of Pennsylvania on Sunday and headed to Feasterville-Trevose in northern Bucks County. He stopped by a McDonald’s and said he was looking for a job. Trump mentioned that he had always wanted to work at McDonald’s but never had the chance. He added that he was now running against a woman who claimed to have worked there but that the story turned out to be completely untrue.

Democratic presidential candidate Harris, born in California, began her public career as a state attorney general. She left her hometown to double major in economics and political science at Howard University, a historically Black university in Washington, D.C. Harris’s campaign revealed that she worked part-time at a McDonald’s in Alameda, California, in 1983 while she was a college student. Earlier this year, Harris recalled the experience during a talk show, saying she started by frying fries and later took orders. She also mentioned that she had joined McDonald’s workers in a strike.

Harris’s campaign has emphasized her working-class background, contrasting it with Trump’s background, as he was born a billionaire. Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota and Harris’s running mate, previously questioned whether Trump could even imagine working at McDonald’s and claimed he wouldn’t know how to operate a McDonald’s ice cream machine. Trump, in turn, accused Harris of fabricating her part-time job experience.

On Sunday, Trump removed his jacket, put on an apron, and fried French fries while also taking orders at the drive-thru. When asked if he had any message for Harris, who turned 60 that day, Trump wished her a happy birthday. He joked that he could buy her flowers and get her some French fries or a McDonald’s hamburger.

Harris, who had turned 60, did not respond to Trump’s remarks. On that day, she attended a service at a large Black church in Stonecrest, Georgia.
