North Korea’s Balloon Blunder: Fire Erupts on Rooftop

A balloon sent by North Korea landed on the roof of a multi-family house, causing a fire.

According to fire authorities, at around 2:35 PM the previous day, a trash balloon crashed and exploded on the roof of a multi-family house in Deogyang-gu, Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province.

Fortunately, there were no injuries. However, the paper inside the balloon burned, leaving soot on the roof’s walls.

Firefighters responded to reports of flames caused by the balloon explosion. They deployed 11 pieces of equipment and 28 personnel, successfully extinguishing the fire in about 25 minutes.

The police and fire authorities have handed over the balloon remains to military officials and are investigating the cause of the fire.
