
Delta Air Lines ranked third in the social contribution category of Fast Company’s 2025 list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies, announced Thursday.
Since 2008, Fast Company has honored companies each year that advance industry and society through technological innovation. Delta was the only airline selected in 2025, recognized for expanding the use of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and for its broader sustainability efforts.
Amelia DeLuca, Delta’s Chief Sustainability Officer, said that as the airline marks its 100th year, it is accelerating innovations that will define the future of sustainable travel. She emphasized that sustainability is essential to their business, people, and planet, and added that the Fast Company recognition highlights employees’ commitment to reaching carbon neutrality by 2050.
Delta is leading industry-wide efforts to expand SAF production. Its strategy includes securing millions of gallons of SAF through partnerships with multiple producers to reach 10% SAF usage by 2030. The airline also helped launch the U.S. Alliance for Sustainable Aviation Fuel, a federal coalition focused on maximizing SAF’s economic impact, and is a key partner in the Minnesota SAF hub.
The airline’s decarbonization initiatives, including fuel conservation and innovation, also contributed to its selection. Last year, the airline’s internal carbon committee worked across departments to save more than 44 million gallons of fuel, resulting in an estimated $100 million in cost savings.
Delta drives innovation across passenger experience, customer service, operations, and corporate culture. These efforts have earned the airline multiple honors, including first place in the airline category of the JUST 100 ranking for corporate values important to U.S. consumers, the title of Most On-Time Airline in America by Cirium for four consecutive years, and a place on Fortune’s World’s Most Admired Companies list for 12 years in a row, ranking 11th in 2025.
