Global stock markets have plunged into turmoil. As U.S. stocks falter, the domestic market in South Korea also signaled a grim start.
On the 25th, the Korea Exchange reported that the KOSPI index opened at 2,721.29, down 1.36% from the previous trading day’s close of 2,758.71. Similarly, the KOSDAQ index opened at 802.28, down 1.47% from the prior day’s close of 814.25.
Last night, the New York Stock Exchange saw the S&P 500 index close at 5,427.13, down 2.31% from the previous session, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq index plummeted 3.64% to end at 10,342.41. The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished at 39,853.87, down 1.25%.
The S&P 500 index experienced its most significant drop in two years and nine months, falling 2.49% since October 15, 2022, while the Nasdaq index recorded its biggest decline, dropping 3.80% since October 7, 2022.
