From Outrage to Apology: The Controversial Comments of Park Jie Won

News1

Park Jie Won, who was elected as representative of the Democratic Party, has once again apologized for his offensive remarks about President Yoon, Speaker of the National Assembly Kim Jin Pyo, and former Speaker Park Byeong Seug, calling them “son of a [expletive].”

On May 2nd, Park appeared on SBS Radio’s Kim Tae Hyun’s Political Show and said, “I’ve made a big mistake in my political life.” He added, “Speaker Park was not even supposed to be mentioned, but I apologize again to the three of them, the viewers, and everyone for my inappropriate remarks.”

Park continued, “I don’t bear any ill feelings,” and shared, “Speaker Kim and I have been close since we worked together at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.”

On May 1st, Park stirred controversy when he used foul language while appearing on Kim Ou Joon’s Humility is Hard News Factory.

After the broadcast, he posted on his Facebook, “I spoke inappropriately without knowing that the broadcast had started, and it was aired as is.” He bowed and said, “Regardless of the reason, I sincerely apologize. I will be more careful with my words and actions in the future.”

However, Park reiterated that Speaker Kim should decide on the special prosecutor law before the general meeting.

Park mentioned the special prosecutor law for Kim Keon Hee and Chae Sang Byung, calling it “the stern command of this general election.” He questioned how the Democratic Party, so incompetent and powerless even with 192 seats, could be given power if they cannot even conduct a special investigation.”

He raised his voice towards Speaker Kim, saying, “It’s the Speaker’s authority, and for justice and the people’s demand, it should be proposed.
