
Hyundai Motor Group announced on January 16 that it has appointed Milan Kovac, a renowned expert in artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and autonomous driving, as a Group Advisor and an Independent Director for its subsidiary, Boston Dynamics.
The recruitment marks a significant move to bolster Hyundai’s technological leadership and spearhead industry transformation. Kovac brings nearly two decades of experience in software, hardware, and AI-based robotics systems.
Most recently at Tesla, Kovac led several high-profile projects, including the Optimus humanoid robot initiative. His work on camera-based vision-centric autonomous driving systems has been widely recognized as groundbreaking in the field.
This strategic move is expected to accelerate AI-driven robotics innovation at Boston Dynamics. The company aims to fast-track the development and commercialization of its cutting-edge robotic products, such as the quadruped robot Spot and the recently unveiled bipedal robot Atlas.
In his new role, Kovac will provide AI and engineering strategy consulting to Hyundai Motor Group. He will also explore potential applications of advanced AI and robotics technologies across various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, and services, by leveraging the group’s extensive industrial network.
