SK Hynix announced on Wednesday its collaboration with 7-Eleven to launch a unique snack, Honey Banana Flavored HBM Chips.
The product name combines the concept of high-bandwidth memory (HBM), a key component in AI technology, with the familiar idea of potato chips.
Designed to resemble the appearance of semiconductor chips, these square-shaped snacks feature a crunchy corn base coated with honey banana-flavored chocolate. With each bite, consumers will experience a delightful blend of textures and a subtle chocolate-banana aroma.
The chips will be available at 7-Eleven stores nationwide, accompanied by a prize event where customers can enter using a serial number found on the included sticker card. The grand prize is10 don (37.5 grams) of gold.
This product launch is part of SK Hynix’s broader strategy to increase brand awareness and accessibility. The company plans to introduce a brand character personifying the HBM product in December, conceptualized as a cutting-edge humanoid equipped with HBM chips. This character will feature in various marketing channels including social media, YouTube content, merchandise, and interactive experiences.
“Our goal is to create a fun, tangible connection between semiconductor technology and everyday life,” an SK Hynix spokesperson explained. “By associating our brand with an enjoyable snacking experience, we hope to make our complex technology more relatable and approachable to the general public.”
