Samsung’s Z Fold 7 Teaser Drops—And It’s Ultra in Every Way

Samsung Electronics has unveiled a teaser video for its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, set to be revealed next month.

On Wednesday, Samsung Electronics posted an article titled Meet the Next Chapter of Ultra on its newsroom, stating that for years, Samsung has listened to users asking for bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create. Samsung added the demand is clear — an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor.

The accompanying video showcases the Samsung Z Fold foldable phone, glowing blue as it unfolds then closes.

Samsung introduced the product by saying that with industry-leading hardware, cutting-edge performance and seamless AI integration optimized for the foldable format, it’s what users have come to expect from Galaxy Ultra. It explained how AI customizes and optimizes everyday tasks such as messaging, web browsing, and gaming, promising improved efficiency and portability.

Introducing their foldable phones, Samsung referred to the Ultra model, typically their flagship model with highest performance, to emphasize a significant enhancement in the Z Fold’s capabilities. However, a new Galaxy Z Fold Ultra model is not expected to be released.

The video has sparked particular interest in the device’s thickness when folded. The video shows the Z Fold to be extremely thin when folded, raising questions about whether it will rival the slim profile of the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, which was exclusively launched in South Korea and China. The previous Galaxy Z Fold 6 model measured 5.6 mm (0.22 in) when unfolded, while the Special Edition slimmed down to 4.9 mm (0.19). According to foreign media, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be even thinner, potentially measuring between 3.9 mm (0.15 in) and 4.54 mm (0.18 in).

Samsung Electronics is set to host its Unpacked event next month in New York City, where it will unveil the new Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7. This marks Samsung’s return to hosting an Unpacked event in New York after three years, following the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 in August 2022.
