Hyundai Elevator announced on Friday that it had received the prestigious Product Design Award at the 2025 Red Dot Design Award in Germany.

The Red Dot Design Award, organized by the Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia, is one of the most respected design competitions in the world. It is considered one of the top three global design honors, alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and the United States’ IDEA Award.

This year’s winning product is Hyundai Elevator’s innovative smart hall button. This next-generation device merges foot sensor technology with AI-powered voice recognition. The system allows users to select their desired floor without any physical contact.

The voice recognition function is activated when users move their foot near the smart button, providing a touchless, accessible experience. Hyundai Elevator officials noted that this breakthrough in elevator interface design noticeably improves accessibility and convenience for all users.

“The smart hall button has successfully completed its testing phase and is scheduled to launch in May,” a Hyundai Elevator spokesperson said. “Our mission is to continue creating products that reflect cutting-edge technology and deliver exceptional design and user experience.”
