In a shocking development, a female soccer coach and tutor in her 30s has been accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student in her classroom in the United States. The woman reportedly married last year now faces serious legal consequences.

On Tuesday, The New York Post reported that Christina Formella, 30, a soccer coach and tutor from Chicago’s western suburbs, has been indicted for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old male student.

The crime was uncovered when the victim’s mother bought her son a new mobile phone, linked it to his account, and accidentally discovered text messages exchanged between him and Formella.

The messages allegedly contained not only discussions of sexual contact but also detailed accounts of sexual intercourse. In response, the parents reported her to the Downers Grove Police Department on March 15.

The investigation revealed that Formella allegedly assaulted the male student during a private tutoring session in a classroom at Downers Grove South High School in December 2023, before the start of the new school term. As a result, prosecutors arrested Formella on March 16.

Prosecutors emphasized that she had abused her authority as a teacher and coach to sexually assault a minor student, stating that such acts of sexual abuse would never be tolerated.

Meanwhile, Formella obtained her teaching certification in 2017 and began working in the school’s special services department in 2020. She later joined the soccer team’s coaching staff in 2021.

Formella married her longtime college boyfriend last year. Her husband reportedly played baseball during his university years.
