On Sunday, Samsung Electronics announced that over 80 models of its 2025 lineup, including Neo Quantum Dot LED (QLED), Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), and The Frame, have received “carbon footprint” and “carbon reduction” certifications from TUV Rheinland in Germany.

Samsung’s premium lineup, including Neo QLED 8K and Neo QLED, has achieved carbon reduction certification for five consecutive years. This year, the certification has been expanded to include the more affordable QLED lineup, increasing the total number of certified models from 60 last year.

TÜV Rheinland, a global testing and certification organization, evaluates greenhouse gas emissions throughout a TV’s entire lifecycle—from manufacturing and transportation to usage and disposal—based on international standards to grant “carbon footprint” certification.

Products that receive the “carbon footprint” certification and demonstrate reduced carbon emissions compared to similar models can also earn a “carbon reduction” certification. This reflects a company’s ongoing commitment to reduce its carbon output.

Samsung Electronics has been expanding its range of certified products annually since 2021 when its Neo QLED became the first TV with 4K or higher resolution to earn carbon reduction certification. The company’s certified products now include LED, Crystal UHD, Lifestyle TVs, OLED, monitors, and signage.

Taeyong Son, Vice President of Samsung Electronics Visual Display Business, stated, “Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future. As the world’s leading TV manufacturer, we will continue to be at the forefront of establishing a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers.”
