Samsung SDI announced on Friday that it has secured a 437.4 billion KRW (approximately $326 million) contract with American energy giant NextEra Energy to supply batteries for an energy storage system. This contract represents 1.93% of Samsung SDI’s total sales. A company spokesperson revealed that the ESS supply will be executed across multiple projects.
The centerpiece of this supply agreement is the Samsung Battery Box, an all-in-one solution that integrates batteries, safety features, and climate control systems within a standardized 20-foot container. Its design prioritizes ease of transportation and installation.
At Korea’s largest battery exhibition, InterBattery 2025, Samsung SDI unveiled a new SBB model. This latest iteration boasts a 37% increase in capacity compared to the original SBB 1.0, achieved through optimized internal space design.
