Dog Lick Leads to Life-Altering Infection: Ohio Woman Loses All Limbs!

LADbible

A woman in Ohio faced a devastating incident, losing all four limbs due to a rare bacterial infection contracted from her pet dog.

According to a report by the LADbible on the weekend, Marie Trainer from Ohio became infected with a rare bacterium known as Capnocytophaga canimorsus after being licked by her dog, causing the amputation of her limbs.

The report indicates that Marie began experiencing symptoms, including back pain and nausea, just a few days after returning home from vacation. Her condition worsened into a high fever, prompting her to be rushed to the emergency room.

Upon her arrival at the hospital, Marie reported severe pain in her hands and legs. Her situation deteriorated rapidly, leading to breathing difficulties that caused her to rely on life support.

Medical professionals informed her that she had been infected by a rare bacteria that attacks the blood vessels in her extremities and that amputation of all four of her limbs was necessary to save her life.

Investigations revealed that Marie was infected after her dog licked a wound on her hand.

Doctors noted, “It appears the bacteria entered her body through a cut when her dog licked her hand.”

This bacterium is found in the saliva of pets like dogs and cats. Although it is very rare, it can be fatal to humans if it enters through an open wound.

Dr. Ajay Seth, who performed the surgery, remarked, “Her hands and feet were rapidly turning black.”

Following the amputation, Marie is currently managing her daily activities with the assistance of prosthetic arms and legs.
