DeepMind, a company listed on KOSDAQ and known for its artificial intelligence (AI) mission drones, has partnered with Clover, a drone control platform company. The two companies will develop a new type of radio measurement drone.
The drone, co-developed by DeepMind and Clover, is designed to enhance communication infrastructure in urban airspace. It will measure communication signals in real-time within busy urban environments, creating a safer environment for urban air mobility (UAM) aircraft. This innovation is likened to constructing “invisible roads” in the sky.
Precise air traffic control and real-time communication are crucial for the safe operation of UAM aircraft. A representative from DeepMind commented, “The radio measurement drone will become a key technology in the UAM market and significantly address transportation challenges in future cities. Through this collaboration, we aim to drive innovation in future transportation systems.”
In addition to its applications in UAM, the drone will be helpful in various sectors, including inspecting communication infrastructure at construction sites and restoring communication in disaster areas.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport anticipates that the domestic drone market will expand from approximately $150 million in 2023 to about $370 million by 2028. Global market research firms like SkyQuest also project that the global drone market will grow from around $28 billion in 2023 to approximately $166.7 billion by 2031.
Clover CEO Lee Hak Jae expressed, “Through our partnership with DeepMind, we aim to lead advancements in the UAM market with the radio measurement drone. Our goal is not only to innovate but also to create safer and more efficient future cities. We will continue to drive growth in the global market through persistent research and collaboration.”
