A Chinese woman who suffered from a video of her breast augmentation surgery being leaked online has hinted at legal action against the hospital.

According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), on the 16th, a Chinese woman underwent breast augmentation surgery at a plastic surgery clinic in Henan Province, China, in January.

However, five months later, she was shocked to discover that a video of her surgery had been leaked on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. The footage, showing her wrapped in bandages and still under the effects of anesthesia, garnered 28,000 likes and was shared 39,000 times.

She demanded a public apology and compensation from the hospital, claiming the hospital violated her privacy and portrait rights. Also, she requested the identification of the person who filmed the video and the removal of the video.

In response, the hospital refused to apologize, stating, “The video was filmed and uploaded by an outsider. The surveillance footage from the operating room is discarded after three months, so it is impossible to trace who filmed it.” They added that they would cooperate with the platform to remove the video if it reappears online.

However, the victim repeatedly demanded an apology and insisted, “The leaked video clearly shows the doctor and nurse. An outsider can’t enter the operating room and film.”

The hospital changed its statement: “The outsider who filmed the video has already left the hospital, and it is impossible to trace them because their contact information has been deleted.”

Ultimately, the victim announced her plans to take legal action against the hospital.
