North Korea publicly executed around 30 middle school students for watching South Korean dramas stored on a USB drive found in anti-North Korea propaganda leaflets.
According to TV Chosun on the 10th, a defector organization sent large balloons carrying USB drives with South Korean dramas to North Korea last month.
A government official said, “About 30 middle school students who were caught watching dramas from the USB they picked up from the balloons were publicly executed last week.”
Last month, teenagers around 17 years old were sentenced to life imprisonment or death for similar reasons. However, this time around 30 middle school students were executed.
North Korea also responded sharply to the rice plastic bottles sent to the sea by the defector organization.
Several residents who cooked rice from the plastic bottles were sentenced to hard labor.
Despite North Korea’s extreme rule, it is predicted that the resistance will continue among the younger generation, known as the jangmadang generation.
