Safety in the Skies? United Jet Loses Wheel, Sparking Investigation

A wheel fell off a Boeing aircraft after taking off from Los Angeles International Airport in the United States.

According to news outlets such as AFP, on July 8, a wheel fell off a Boeing 757-200 passenger aircraft operated by United Airlines after departing from Los Angeles.

Fortunately, the passenger aircraft landed safely at its destination, Denver International Airport.

United Airlines stated in a press release, “The wheel was recovered in Los Angeles. We are investigating the cause of the accident.”

No injuries were reported among the 174 passengers and seven crew members on board the aircraft at the time.

This is the second time a wheel has fallen off a United Airlines Boeing aircraft after takeoff.

In March, a wheel fell off a United Airlines Boeing 777-200 passenger aircraft shortly after takeoff from San Francisco. At that time, the aircraft diverted to Los Angeles instead of its original destination, Osaka, Japan.

Boeing has been under pressure from authorities due to recent safety issues.

The aerospace company also received an additional investigation order from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the same day due to an issue with oxygen masks.

The FAA issued an order to inspect Boeing 737s due to reports that the passenger oxygen generators have been dislocated. This may mean that the emergency passenger oxygen masks may not function properly.
