Genesis unveiled two concept models embodying its future direction for the first time.
On June 27, Genesis announced that it showcased the ultra-large electrified sports utility vehicle (SUV) Neolun Concept for the first time in Asia and the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo (VGT) for the first time worldwide at the 2024 Busan Mobility Show held at BEXCO in Haeundae, Busan.
The Neolun was first unveiled in New York in March and is a concept model that organically combines design and technology to show infinite possibilities and future direction.
The name Neolun is a combination of Neo, meaning new, and Luna, meaning moon, symbolizing its commitment to providing future-oriented innovative luxury distinct from traditional luxury vehicles.
The Neolun expresses luxury and innovation at the same time based on a minimalist design that minimizes unnecessary elements. A great example is the B-pillarless coach door, which opens facing each other connecting the front and rear doors of the vehicle.
The B-pillarless coach door provides a more open interior space compared to the traditional vehicle structure. It is also a key element of Genesis that maximizes interior and exterior design innovation and the convenience of getting in and out of the vehicle.
The Genesis X Gran Racer VGT was produced through its program, Genesis Magma, which challenges the high-performance domain. Genesis Magma aims for high-performance luxury based on technical capabilities and aesthetic identity. According to Genesis, it goes beyond simple vehicle performance enhancement and merges cutting-edge technology with a sporty design. Genesis aims to develop high-performance models based on the current lineup through the Magma program.
The front design of the vehicle features the Crest Grille shape, utilizing Genesis’s signature two-line design that extends smoothly to the sides, creating an aerodynamic structure.
Genesis first introduced the G80 Electrified Facelift Model, which was recreated after three years, in the domestic market after unveiling it in Beijing, China in April. The G80 Electrified Facelift Model is characterized by an improved second-row space with a 130mm extended wheelbase, various convenience features, and an enhanced driving range with the fourth-generation battery. Genesis plans to officially launch the G80 Electrified Facelift Model in the South Korean market in August.
Song Min Kyu, Vice President of Genesis Business Division, said, “During the Busan Mobility Show, we plan to showcase various models that demonstrate the essence of Genesis design and future-oriented technology to meet the expectations of domestic customers.”
Meanwhile, Genesis has prepared an exhibition space of 1120 square meters for the Busan Mobility Show, which will be held on July 7. They will display a total of seven vehicles, including the Neolun Concept, Genesis X Gran Racer VGT, G80 Electrified Facelift Model, G90 Black, GV80 Coupe, and GV70.
