A woman who hit an unknown girl on the street was retaliated against by a good Samaritan.

The Daily Mail reported on an unprovoked assault that occurred in Brazil on February 17 last year.

In the CCTV footage of the incident, a woman in a pink top struck a girl’s face who was walking with her mother in broad daylight. The smack was strong enough to knock the child’s head back. The girl’s mother tried to approach the woman to protest, but the perpetrator threatened the mother and daughter by swinging her hand.

The reason for the assault is unclear, but the perpetrator and the victim did not know each other.

However, the perpetrator was immediately retaliated against by a male citizen.

A citizen who witnessed the assault ran over, kicked the woman to the ground, and began to hit her repeatedly. The victim’s mother comforted her shocked child.

Shortly after, other citizens joined the scene to check on the girl’s condition. The perpetrator, who was beaten by the citizen, ran away while the child’s mother tried to stop the man.

People who heard the news online responded, “It was an appropriate response against the woman who assaulted the child,” and “The perpetrator got what she deserves.”

Meanwhile, public assaults are happening worldwide. According to the New York Times on May 31, at least 50 women were randomly assaulted on the streets in Lower Manhattan alone from the beginning of this year to April.

These incidents gained attention mainly because some of the victims posted videos of their bruised faces and testimonies on social media after the attack, highlighting the seriousness of the problem.
