A shocking incident occurred in Shinjuku, Tokyo, where a woman in her 20s was fatally stabbed while streaming a live broadcast on the street.

According to NHK and Asahi Shimbun, on Wednesday, the incident occurred the previous day at around 9:50 a.m. near Takadanobaba Station in Shinjuku, Tokyo. The woman, who was broadcasting live at the time, was stabbed with a knife and was rushed to the hospital in an unconscious state but did not survive.

The suspect, identified as a 42-year-old man from Oyama City, Tochigi Prefecture, was arrested at the scene. Police confiscated a blood-stained survival knife measuring 13 cm, and another knife was later found in his bag.

During police questioning, the suspect admitted to the crime, stating, “I lent her $13,500, but she never paid me back.” He insisted, “I did not intend to kill her.”

According to NHK, a construction worker at a nearby site witnessed the incident and said, “I heard a sudden commotion and went outside. A woman was bleeding from her head, and a man, who appeared to be the suspect, was pointing his smartphone at her face. He seemed extremely calm.”

When police arrived and asked, “Who is the suspect?” the man raised his hand and said, “It’s me.”
